Tarot Card Reading

Tarot card reading is much easier to do than what most people would believe. The general public think that Tarot card reading is only used for predicting the future and fortune telling. But this is only part of the truth and I hope that after reading this article on Tarot card reading, you will inspire yourself to find out more about how you too can do a Tarot card reading for yourself and others.

Edgar Danmer,Founder of Contemporary Tarot Association

My name is Edgar Danmer and I am the founder of Contemporary Tarot Association. I have been giving Tarot card readings for 15 years. My journey with the Tarot cards, started out of curiosity. Since the age 19, I have been deeply interested in metaphysical subjects and the Tarot was one of these things that I needed to find out more about.

Free Tarot Card Readings

Watkins bookstore

I remember purchasing my first set of tarot cards from Watkins bookstore in Covent Garden London, United kingdom. I was like a child on Christmas day, holding his new toy and excited about how much fun I would experience. But when I got home and opened my deck of Tarot cards, I was shocked by some the images.

Intuition the Key

I am sure that I begun to do what a lot people do when they begin to study the Tarot. You go to your local library to look for books on the Tarot. You visit new age shops and become an addict of books on the tarot, but the problem with doing things this way, is that you miss out on recognizing your most important asset: YOUR INTUITION.

Language of Symbols

If you have become fascinated by the images of your Tarot cards, or Tarot cards that you have seen on the internet, or other sources of research, you begin to grasp that you are learning a new language. The language of symbols.

Tarot Tips

If you have become fascinated by the images of your Tarot cards, or Tarot cards that you have seen on the internet, or other sources of research, you begin to grasp that you are learning a new language. The language of symbols.

Many people who study the Tarot, try to memorize the meaning of the symbols in the Tarot. This what I thought you had to do to be able to give a Tarot reading. But the problem with this approach is there are too many symbolic definitions to remember. Giving Tarot readings in this way, only creates a space for missing what your intuition is seeing and your Tarot readings have a subtle energy of self doubt in your ability to give confident fluent Tarot readings that are trans formative for yourself and others.

So I would like to share with some very simple things that you can do begin giving more powerful Tarot card readings.

  1. Forget that Tarot card readings is about fortune telling. Yes there are techniques for predicting the future. But I know many Tarot readers use Tarot cards simply as a tool connect with their intuition for personal self development. The shadow of fortune telling that surrounds the Tarot can create a barrier to being able to read the cards. As you progress with your Tarot study, fortune telling become less attractive and you work on asking very meaningful questions that can lead self-knowledge and more fulfilment in your life. So you are welcome to leave fortune telling with Gypsies from the 19th century, but for now you can become open to studying the Tarot as a tool of getting insights about your life. Not from the point of view of what is going to happen, but rather on what is present for you today.
  2. When you begin studying the Tarot, begin only using the 22 Tarot cards from the Major arcana. There are another 56 cards to connect with. But even after 15 years of practice, I prefer just using just 22 Tarot cards. This is an easy way to master using the Tarot and many professional Tarot readers only use the 22 Tarot cards in their reading.
  3. Refuse to use other people's definitions of the Tarot cards, until you feel confident that you have made a personal connection with the Tarot cards. I have my own symbolic dictionary, where the definitions are my own personal ones. Yes sometimes your personal definitions will match what other Tarot readers have written in their books, but sometimes what you see will be radically different. This is o.k and thank God we do not see everything the same way. It will take about 3 months to build your symbolic dictionary, but once it is done, you will be looking at the Tarot cards and when giving a reading, you will have no need to remember anything as your interpretations will becoming from direct experience, not second hand from your head.
  4. Read the Tarot cards as if you are reading a comic. When I am giving a Tarot card reading with others, I am in reality sharing the story that I see in the Tarot cards and when I sense intuitively. This is why one of the most important things you can do to learn the Tarot is learn to meditate and be able to still your mind, so that when you give Tarot readings you are not only sharing the story in the Tarot cards like a story teller, but you allowing the imagery to trigger your subconscious, so that you can access information from an intuitive level.
  5. Visit my blog where I give practical exercises to learn how to read the Tarot in a professional way, without needing to buy books on the Tarot.Practice is the key and reading the Tarot is much easier than people actually realize. http://contemporarytarotassociation.com/
